Corsock Show this Saturday

26th August, 2023

Palpable level of excitement ahead of the Great Corsock Show!

The Great Corsock Show is coming! On Saturday, 26th of August, this much-loved Stewartry tradition will allow the great and the good of home baking, crafting, scarecrow fashioning, vegetable growing and homemade drink brewing to pit their skills against each other.

Not thought about what categories to enter? There is still time. Leaflets with all categories and information are being distributed around the Corsock area. Copies are also available from the porch of Corsock Hall or online here: https://corsockhall.wixsite.com/home/post/great-corsock-show-2023

and on the hall Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/corsockhall

• Entries can be dropped off at Corsock Hall on Friday 25th August between 7pm and 8.30pm, or

on Saturday 26th August between 9.30am and 10.45am.

• At 10.45am, the doors will be sealed and judging takes place.

• At 1pm, a ribbon will be cut to open the show, allowing exhibitors and general public to peruse entries and see the winners.

• 2.30pm onwards will hold the presentation of awards, the raffle draw and produce auction.

This year the ribbon will be cut by Pen Symonds, village resident and a long term show stalward.

From 1pm, the Hall will again be hosting the ever-popular café for hot drinks and cake, there will be a BBQ outside the hall and activities including a golf game.

Organisers are looking for donations for the raffle / tombola and would be very grateful for baking donations to the refreshments area. If you can help the show, either with a donation or helping on the day itself, please do get in touch with greatcorsockshow@hotmail.com. Also, keep an eye on the @CorsockHall facebook page for updates.

Funds raised this year will go towards a winter panto trip for local children and a donation will be made to the Castle Douglas Food Bank.

Member of the show organising committee, McNabb Laurie, said:

“This year’s show should be great fun, an opportunity for locals and visitors to come to Corsock, enjoy a nice cup of tea and to assess what I’m sure will be quite an intimidating array of creations. The show includes a couple of new categories this year – including the much talked about Lemon Curd. There really is something for everyone. See you there!”
